I’ve opened a few credit cards lately, but don’t plan on using them, only for emergencies. Will just having 4 or 5 credit cars available for my use somehow hurt my credit score, or credit in general for future loans I might want?Submited by:Doug G

Within the past couple of months, I’ve been receiving several letters per week from credit card companies enticing me to apply. I have bad credit, got rid of all my credit cards eight years ago, and am still paying off old debt. Could these letters have something to do with the fact I bought a new car last fall? Should I apply for a card to build my credit back up? How would I know what company to go with?

I have several accounts open for different reasons that I would like to keep but I am trying to improve my credit rating, does that look bad on a credit report. Any other tips to improve credit fast? I don’t have bad credit but I am trying to get the best rate possible on a student loan in a year or so.
