What reasons are there to put money into treasury bills, rather than a FDIC-insured money market account? November 14, 2009
Posted by Banking in : Personal Finance , 2commentsMy money market savings account is earning ~3.5%. It’s been at this rate, or higher, for years. Since it’s FDIC-insured, its credit risk isn’t substantially more than that of a treasury bill. And, it’s more liquid.
So why would someone put their money into treasury bills?
Thanks!

What happens if there isn’t enough money in my bank account to cover a Pay Pal withdraw? November 13, 2009
Posted by Banking in : Personal Finance , 3commentsI moved some money to my pay pal account to buy stuff online, but then found out that most places prefer your bank account in the first place. I was just wondering if I went ahead and spent money off the bank account if pay pal would continue the withdraw? I think they hold it but I’m not sure.
OK how do i choose best answer in yahoo answers then HAHA.

How is the money supply increased when banks lend out their excess reserves? November 2, 2009
Posted by Banking in : Personal Finance , 2commentsBanks are required to keep a certain percentage of their deposits on reserve, either in their own vaults or in their accounts at the Fed. This percentage of deposits that they are required to keep is called the reserve requirement. For example, if the reserve requirement is 5%, when a customer deposits $100 at the bank, the bank only has to keep $5 of that $100 deposit. The remaining $95 (called excess reserves) can be lent out to other customers.

My grandfather has added my uncle to his credit cards that have credit insurance on them. My uncle passed away and the credit card companys says they will not pay off the debt accumulated by my uncle because he was not the primary card holder. Is this legal? What rights does my grandfather have?
