I think I believe you should pay off the bad debt you have first. After you do that, get a letter from the bank you paid off.

After a month, it should no longer show on Check Systems as outstanding, it should show you as paid off. CS, thats where banks put you for having a debt with them

I am not sure if check systems can give you a listing of who put you there. IF so, also keep the letter that says you paid off that bank. And go open an account by providing proof to the potential bank account you want to open.'

the way banks see it is: they dont wanna open an account w/ you since youhad a bad historyh w/ previous bank.
you will remain on CS. for 5 or 7 yrs.
I was on it.... paid it off, and had to show those ltrs, i know.

If I were you I'd look into local Credit Unions. I had a similar situation, and a credit union helped me out...plus you will probably get interest on your checking account.

You're better off finding a Credit Union that you can join. They have all the befefits of a bank, and will work with you personally to restore your credit rating.
