Bank Credit? March 1, 2010

When a person uses their debit card, it comes out of the bank right away. Say, for instance, you are overcharged and the clerk immediately does a credit, why does it take 2 or 3 days before the credit shows up in your bank account? Seems to me the credit hits the bank as fast as a debit.

The bank charges you almost like a “planned” fee instantly. It takes a few days for the final fee too show up because the bank goes through a paperwork process kind of deal.
