What happens to credit score if you close a store credit card? November 1, 2009

I have a few store credit cards (Macy’s, Banana Republic, etc) in addition to a major credit card. I want to cancel some of the store credit card, but I don’t know how that effects my credit rating. I think closing credit cards in general lowers credit scores, but what about those store cards?

Hi, I’m looking for an inexpensive health insurance for my mother who is a permanent resident and our dependent. She has a SSN, but never worked in US. Also, I’d like to get her a credit card, but she has no credit history. Has anybody dealt with similar problems?Submited by:lizochek09
Can I pay a bank loan using a personal check? November 1, 2009

Blame it on ignorance…
Because my credit union lost all my direct deposit account info when I initially set up an auto loan, I physically make my payments there each month. I always pay cash.
But can I simply write a check for the amount due and hand it to the teller? Is that acceptable? It would save me a trip to my other bank each month.
