How is it legal for a car dealership to claim no credit check but when you go apply for the car you like they first thing they do is check your credit? is that false advertisement?Submited by:skilzs2000

Welcome to the car biz. Legally, they cannot check your credit without your consent, so don’t give them your SS number. And yes it is false advertisement. Don’t sign anything before the test drive and do not give them your SS number. If they won’t allow you a test drive, the tell them Bye Bye.

No they are saying no credit check for GOING there. See it’s a really sneaky thing. They are doing a credit check for you ATTEMPTING TO BUY. You can show up and they won’t check your credit. You can test drive a car and they won’t check your credit, if they let you test drive. You can do pretty much anything short of trying to buy the car and they won’t check your credit.
