What does charging my debit card as credit do for my credit? October 22, 2009

I’m considering getting a credit card and just having it draw from my checking account, would this build credit? Alternatively, I have a debit card that occasionally gets charged as credit, and it gets paid from the checking account all the same, does this affect my credit?
